'Super Mario Run' launches Dec. 15 for iPhone, iPad
Are you ready for Mario on your iPhone or iPad? The first ever mobile game featuring the popular plumber is ready for launch this December, according to an announcement by Nintendo.
“Super Mario Run” will go on sale on Dec. 15 in 151 countries and regions around the world for $9.99 (U.S price). Nintendo has been stressing that there will be no micro transactions and the initial price is the only cost.
There are three game modes, World Tour, Toad Rally and Kingdom Builder, that can be tried for free before purchasing the full game. Only a portion of each mode is available for free.
Nintendo said “Super Mario Run” is the first “Super Mario Bros.” game developed specifically for mobile devices. The game will work on any Apple mobile device running iOS 8.0 or later.
They said Mario will move forward on his own, and players will cause him to jump, avoid enemies, collect coins and more with a tap on the screen on the way to complete the course.
“The wait is almost over for a Super Mario game that can be played on mobile devices,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of sales and marketing in a press release. “Developed under the direction of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, ‘Super Mario Run’ brings a new take on the series’ beloved action-platforming gameplay to iPhone and iPad for the first time.”
